@america Short Film Competition

Theme: Diversity

Submit a story idea for a short film based on the given theme.  Winning submissions will be given $1,500 financing to make their stories into short films.  The number of winners depends on the number and quality of the submissions.  The maximum number of winners is 5.

Contestant Requirements:

  • Contestants must be an Indonesian national
  • Contestants story idea is an original work
  • Contestants have never won any awards from any film festivals
  • Contestants are NOT currently employed in any film industry related sector
  • Contestants can be an individual or a group


Short Film Technical Requirements:

  • File Format:  .mov (Quicktime) or .mp4 (codec H.264)
  • Video Frame Size:  1280x720 (720P)
  • Duration: 15-20 minutes


Short Film Content Requirements:

  • Short Films must not contain material that violates or infringes another's rights, living or deceased, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;
  • Short Films must not feature brand names or trademarks other than @america for which entrant has a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use for the sole purpose of creating and entering a Submission in this Contest (any and all other rights and license to use the @america name, logo or other intellectual property are strictly prohibited);
  • All footage and music contained in the Short Films must be properly licensed, in the public domain or created by entrant;
  • Short Films must be suitable for publication in a public forum for people aged 15 and older and may not contain nudity, profanity, threats of physical violence, racism, or material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in any jurisdiction where the Short Film is created



  • Submissions are made on line at @america Facebook
  • Submission period: 31 January 2013
  • Winner announcement: February 8, 2013
  • Winning submissions will be financed (USD $1,500) to be produced into a short film
  • Film production period: 6 weeks
  • All films posted on @america YouTube for voting by general public
  • Voting period: February 1-7, 2013
  • Films screened for discussion and winner announcement: early February, 2013
  • @america retains all rights to submitted works
